Esteban A. Aguilar, Sr.

Esteban "Steve" A. Aguilar, Sr. was graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1978.  He was born and raised in El Paso, Texas where he was graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975.

Following law school he returned to El Paso, Texas where he practiced law with a small business litigation firm until he was hired by the late U.S. Senator Lloyd Bentsen as a Legislative Assistant in 1981.  He worked for Senator Bentsen until 1983, when he returned to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Mr. Aguilar practices personal injury law, legal and medical malpractice, products liability, and insurance law.   He is an experienced litigator, and has handled numerous commercial litigation cases.

With over 30 years of litigation experience in State and Federal courts in New Mexico and Texas, Mr. Aguilar is an accomplished attorney.  He has received an "AV" from Martindale Hubbell's national directory of attorneys, signifying preeminent legal ability and the highest standard of ethics. 

In 2002 was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a recognition given to only a few of the top trial lawyers in each State.

Mr. Aguilar was also named a "Southwest Super Lawyer" in 2008 to 2009.  He was also included in Martindale Hubbell's Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers in 2002, 86th edition.

Mr. Aguilar has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law where he has lectured and taught Evidence and Trial Practice.  He also has been certified as an Instructor for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA).

He has been active in the New Mexico Trial Lawyers' Association, where he has served on its Board of Directors and as President for 2007-2008.
